He questions Michael's magical powers. He easily confuses the real world and its imaginary counterpart that lives in his head. |

STELIOS: Is Aaron's cousin; the indisputable leader of the group. He is the young Houdini who can free himself from shackles and ropes. His aim is to discover the secrets of great magic. He is quite mature for his age. |

VERIOS: Is the most cosmopolitan child in the group. He is the son of an army officer, which means he frequently changes places of residence. He is handsome, tall and snobby. His challenge of Aaron's deputy leadership position sets in motion his doom. |

GALANOS: Is the chubbiest in the group and the most realistic of all. He has many family problems, which at some point he will confront and resolve. He is the first of the Acrobats, to grow out of childhood into adolescence. He is also the first leave the group. |

AKIS: Is the Acrobat who keeps a low profile. He is tiny and wears spectacles. The son of the pharmacist. He is rather plain and ordinary. The only time he does not feel like a geek is when he is with his friends. He wants to be a tightrope walker and he is the first one whose life is endangered at the cistern. |

KOULA: Is Aaron's and Saki's mother. She is the archetypical mother figure, who on the one hand has to put up with everything and yet she holds the reins of her family. Beyond her pots and pans as well as her ironing innumerable sheets, she is the soul of the yard. She is a realist who tries to keep a balance amongst the sisters and the other family members. She loves her husband, despite his fooling around every now and then. She bears her cross with dignity and a sense of humour. |

ELENI: Is the eldest sister, who lives in the other house of the common yard. Everyone is fearful of her, Rodoula included. All major decisions are made round her table. Her agreement or disagreement on any issue is of paramount importance in the microcosm of the small common yard. Nobody disputes her judgement. She always senses imminent tragedy. |

RODOULA: Is the youngest sister. She is an expert on making the most beautiful sheets. She is regarded as a woman of easy virtue, and yet she has made a solemn promise to guard her virginity for her future husband. She has a beautiful voice. The boys look up to her like an elder sister rather than an aunt. She will fall in love with Pericles. |

VANGELIS: Is Koula's husband and Sakis's and Aaron's father. He is a taxi driver. He is very handsome who on occasion fools around. Nevertheless, he is a respectable family man and still loves Koula. He is the classic example of a father, who can inspire respect as well as fear. |

PERICLES: Works at a petrol station. He falls in love with Rodoula. He is a working class man, a gentleman, despite his old-fashioned macho attitude. He knows how to make delicious paella. Aaron will immediately accept him in the family. Despite his superficial hardness, love gradually transforms him into the sweetest of men. All the women in the yard envy Rodoula's good fortune. |

SOSO: Is Aaron's aunt. She is believed to be a witch and a temptress. Her tiny jars are full of secrets. She is lame in one leg. She is mysteriously exuberant woman, with the kind of eyes that characterise witches. She is Aaron's favourite aunt. She makes the best ice cream and the most delicious "cookies". |

GRANDMOTHER ANASTASIÁ: Is Vangelis's mother and Koula's mother-in-law. She had pledged to name her granddaughter after Frederiki (the queen of Greece). Even if the new-born baby turned out to be a boy she was reluctant to change her mind. Her curses are all-powerful. Beneath her steely exterior, though lies, a deep love for her family and Aaron. |

MICHAEL: The enigma, lives in amansion on the outskirts of the town. He neither grows old nor dies. He is well versed in all the secrets of witchcraft and his Achilles tendon is vanilla. From the moment he lays claim to Stelios's heart he provokes Aaron with devastating results. His witchcraft is somehow connected with grandma Anastasia's curses. |
